Welcome to Alamo Battalion U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC)

The U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps (USNSCC) is a nationally recognized youth development program for young men and women aged 10 to 18, sponsored and supported by the U.S. Navy, affording various naval and military-related training opportunities. Sea Cadets participate in hands-on and instructor-led training, as well as team-building activities that encompass STEM, firefighting, law enforcement, health and fitness, medical, drill and formation, color guard, Navy values, seamanship, and navigation.

Cadets attend drills, often one weekend a month from Saturday morning until Sunday at noon, and participate in training during school breaks that encourage values like honor, respect, commitment, and service. Training can take place on military bases, local universities, and sometimes alongside active-duty service members, offering insight into military careers.

The Program is divided into two main groups:

Navy League Cadet Corps (NLCC): For youth aged 10–13 (grades 5–8), this introductory program emphasizes citizenship, discipline, teamwork, and basic maritime skills.

Naval Sea Cadet Corps (NSCC): For teens aged 13 through the end of high school, this advanced program offers leadership opportunities, extensive naval training, and has options for international exchange.

The local unit in San Antonio, named the Alamo Battalion, was established as a Battalion by the U.S. Navy Seabees in 1997.
